Minister White leads trade mission to Scotland
Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Alex White TD led a delegation of Enterprise Ireland client companies at the Low Carbon Scotland conference from 24-25 February 2015. He addressed the conference on the topic “Ireland’s Capability within the Low Carbon Sector: Why Ireland is a compelling choice for collaboration and partnership to reach low carbon targets”.
Scottish Government Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Aileen McLeod hosted Minister White for a meeting to discuss the low carbon agenda.
Minister White met with companies in the energy sector, including those with Irish-Scottish links. He visited Scottish and Southern Electricity’s Glasgow headquarters, Whitelee Wind Farm, and Glennon Brothers in East Lothian.
Minister White paid a visit to the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation, where he met with Director Dr Andy Kerr and heard about its ongoing research and public-private-academic collaboration.
Enterprise Ireland and Consul General Bourne hosted a working dinner for Minister White, which was attended by Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Europe and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop, the Principals of the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier University, and more key officials from the Scottish Government, its agencies, and the academic and private sectors.
The Consulate also held a networking reception for Low Carbon Scotland conference attendees, and Irish and Scottish businesses. At the reception, a new strategic partnership between Irish company Crowley Carbon and Eco Energy from Britain was announced.
