St Patrick’s Festivals in Scotland

Festivals to celebrate St Patrick’s Day are underway across Scotland, with programmes of events taking place in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Coatbridge.

Edinburgh’s Festival of Ireland 2015 was launched at the Consulate on 2 March in a lively event featuring just some of the dancing and music that will be on display over the coming weeks. Alongside dance and music concerts, the Festival also includes elements on Irish history and the Irish language, and finishes with the St Patrick’s Day Pageant on Portobello Promenade on Sunday 15 March. Lord Provost of Glasgow Sadie Docherty hosted a civic reception at Glasgow City Chambers to launch the Glasgow St Patrick’s Festival 2015 on 3 March. The Festival includes something for everyone, from film to music, quiz to drama, and of course the annual Gala Dinner Dance on Saturday 7 March and Family Day in Merchant Square on Saturday 14 March. The 2015 St Patrick’s Day Festival Coatbridge is underway with a series of events on Irish history, sports, genealogy, and Father Ted! The programme has many highlights, including the Annual Dinner Dance on 7 March, the Ireland’s Forgotten Tea Dance on 12 March, and the Family Fun Day in Coatbridge Town Centre on Saturday 14 March.
