New documentary film, State Library of Victoria, Melbourne
7 - 8 April
The Embassy of Ireland is delighted to provide funding towards the production of this new documentary film that looks at how the Easter Rising helped to shape political forces in Australia at a crucial time in Australia’s national history.
In particular, the execution of the leaders of the insurrection had a profound effect on Archbishop Daniel Mannix, the man who led Australia’s Catholic community.
Independent documentary maker Eoin Hahessy captures the mood of the time in this new film, 'Michael, they have shot them': the Irish Rising that shaped an Australian nation, commemorating the centenary of these powerful events.
The premier screening of the film will take place at the State Library of Victoria on 9 April at 3.30pm. Further details and bookings are available on the State Library website .
