Applications for Foreign Birth Registration are not handled by the Consulate General of Ireland in Sydney and we cannot answer any queries on such applications. For more information as to whether you qualify for Irish citizenship through Foreign Birth Registration, what documentation you require and how to make an application, please visit the relevant Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade page.
Application forms must be completed online. Once you have completed the application form, you must print it, have it signed and witnessed and then post it with your supporting documentation to the following address:

Please note we have now moved to online payments for applications for Foreign Birth Registration*. Please have your debit/credit card details and all the required supporting documents ready before you begin your application.
Applications for Foreign Birth Registration can take up to six months to process from the date of receipt of a complete application with all the required supporting documentation.
