Launch of Cricket World Cup 2015 in Canberra
Sarah Mangan, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Ireland, was on hand to participate in the launch of the Canberra leg of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Trophy Tour, with ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr MLA and representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Andy Bichel, a key member of the Australian cricket team during their successful 2003 Cricket World Cup campaign, was also present to help promote the tournament.
Ireland will play South Africa in Manuka Oval, Canberra on Tuesday 3 March and we are hoping to see a big turnout from the Blarney Army in the nation's capital to support the Irish side.
The Irish team will play their first match against the West Indies at Saxton Oval, Nelson on 16 February. From there they will be in Brisbane on 25 February against UAE; Canberra on 3 March against South Africa; Hobart on 7 March against Zimbabwe; Hamilton on 11 March against India; and finishing the pool stages at Adelaide on 15 March against Pakistan.
The Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour will be visiting locations around Australia and New Zealand. See their website for information on your nearest location.
