Welcome to our website and I hope that you will find it a useful source of information about what is happening in Irish-Korean relations and about Irish events taking place here.

I took up my role as Ireland’s Ambassador in Korea in August 2022, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the economic, political and cultural relations between Ireland and Korea and to support greater trade and investment links.

With my family, I have lived for many years in Africa, some time in Central America, and a stint in Scotland. I am a big fan of the GAA, and so am very excited to see the development of the clubs around the country, and the growth of Gaelic football especially among young Koreans.

I am also really interested in food - trying out Korean food, but also championing Irish food (and drink!) too. I firmly believe that Korea is potentially a really exciting market, and source of investment for Irish businesses too, across a range of sectors. In my role here, I’m working closely with Enterprise Ireland to seek out all of those opportunities, and advance commercial relations between Korea and Ireland by championing the great innovation that exists in Ireland.

The Embassy team and I are open to suggestions about how we can continue to support the community here, and how we can best communicate with you. The Embassy in Seoul works closely with the Irish community to further strengthen Ireland’s profile - our music, our sport, our food, our first-class education sector, our literature and beyond.

To our Irish citizens, whether you are a permanent resident, or a short-term visitor, it is important that we are able to assist you in any consular issues that may arise, and therefore we would ask you to take the time to register with the Embassy through the Department’s online system.
