Emergency Assistance in Sweden

This section contains advice and information for Irish citizens who encounter difficulties in Sweden.  You should also refer to our travel advice in advance of travelling to Sweden.

General

If you need emergency assistance from the Embassy, then contact us immediately. Our telephone number is: +46 8 54504040. If you call out of normal office hours, you will be prompted to leave a message. When doing so, please remember to state your name, the nature of the emergency, where you are now, and the details of how the Duty Officer can contact you (e.g. leave your mobile phone number, or the phone number of the hotel/hostel where you are staying). Please note that the Duty Officer can only deal with emergencies. If necessary, contact the police and or other emergency services also.

English is widely spoken in Sweden. The Embassy can also provide a list of English-speaking doctors and lawyers on request. It should be noted that inclusion on the list does NOT indicate a recommendation of that service by the Embassy.
