Can I apply for a passport whilst on holiday in Ireland/Tanzania?

Guidance is provided below on whether it is possible to apply for an Irish passport when on holiday.

It is not possible to renew your passport in any country other than in your country of residence.

You should only apply for a passport at the Embassy of Ireland in Tanzania if you reside in Tanzania (or Burundi or Eritrea - The Embassy's secondary accreditations), or in the event that you have lost your passport or had it stolen while visiting Tanzania.
